MINUTES EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING November 14, 2013 The meeting was called to order by Vice President Frank Elizondo at 6:00 pm. The other members of the Executive Board present were: Sanne Berrig, Julie Dean, Marvin Jones, Secretary Jeff Miller and Treasurer Robert O'Connor. Executive Board member Max Alavi and President Terence Endersen were absent. Twenty-one additional BSRA members and visitors were present. The agenda for this meeting was approved. The approval of the minutes of the October meeting was tabled because those minutes were not available. Bay Shore Librarian Debi Gurley-Vilander reported the conclusion of the Summer Reading Program (which included food coupons from In-N-Out Burger), eleven school class visits, and the installation of "self-checkout" equipment scheduled for December. Julie Maleki, Administrative Analyst from the Third
District, reported these construction projects in progress: rebuilding the LBPD East Division Commander
Paul LeBaron reported details of the assaults and robberies in the crime
report for October. Two of the assaults were on Vice President Elizondo asked for suggestions for future guest speakers. Ideas given were: Long Beach Environmental Services Bureau (disposition of trash), homeless services, animal shelter and adoption, BSBA president, Steve Harvey (Grunion Gazette writer), and a forum for the Third District candidates. BSBA Executive Director DeDe Rossi announced these events: Small Business Saturday on November 30, Menorah lighting ceremony on December 1 at City Bank, Christmas Parade on December 7, and free parking (two hour limit) at the meters on December 14, 15, 21, and 22. Forsberg reported the installation of "Quiet Zone" signs on Secretary Miller announced
upcoming costs for the semi-annual non-profit corporation filing with the
State of Executive Board member Berrig
announced plans to staff a BSRA membership table on Treasurer O'Connor reported the bank account balance is $1,753. Vice President Elizondo reviewed the motion establishing the Membership Boundary Committee and announced he would chair the committee; Directors Berrig and Jones volunteered as committee members, as did BSRA member Alexis Rabenn.
